Size H – What where you thinking!

Size H – What was she thinking?!

Is it just me or is getting implants an everyday thing now. I find myself wondering are those real or fake, because my don’t look like that (mine are real) Do you think that women are getting more implants and larger cup sizes because of the media? I think so, unfortunately most of beauty decisions are based on what’s in during the season.

The reason I am thinking about this is because Heidi Montag just got implants of a size H! That is absolutely insane!! I don’t understand how she is going to work out, find a bra size to fit that, and just basically have a normal functioning life.  She just had ten plastic surgery procedures but she’s already thinking about the next she is going under, for her implants. She has told the public that she wants H for Heidi. I hope girls aren’t going to start matching their breast size with the first letter of their first initial, because if that is the case then I’m in trouble. My name is Victoria!

Heidi claims that she is not addicted to plastic surgery, but how could she not be? I understand that you want to look your best, but key word there is “look your best”. The way that you were created, not what a doctor can do to make you look your best. Women in the media especially Heidi who has the perfect body and women want to look just like her, should be a little more cautious of what they do, knowing that the public is watching their every move. Young girls are going to want to get implants now just to look like her.

Women in a Powerful Position

Katherine Heigl in The Ugly Truth was also portrayed a women who because she was so wrapped up in her work and fantasy world she couldn’t find a real man. She needed a man’s opinions and guidance to find true love, which is ridiculous. Okay I understand that men want women to act a certain way, like not care about the little things, don’t nag, don’t be too possessive, ect. but women are very capable of finding their own man.  At the end of the movie she even breaks up with guy by saying I have not been myself for the entire time we have been dating, and basically that they aren’t meant to be since he likes her when she was pretending to be someone else.

When a woman is in a position of power, such as the rare female boss portrayed in The Proposal with Sandra Bullock she tends to be a cold-hearted, detached career woman with sociopathic tendencies. She of course isn’t married because she is a obsessed with word! Also Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada she scared me that movie! She was a crazy powerful women, who everyone was scared of and she had 3 husbands because of her work life.

This sends the message that a powerful woman sacrifices a healthy relationship, family, and possibly even her sanity to be extremely successful at her career. For the young girl who dreams to run a company, or become a famous journalist, astronaut, or scientist, the media does not provide enough models for her to look to for encouragement and inspiration.

The portrayal of women in these power position movies, is not the way that women in a high position act. I don’t understand why they need to portray women this way, when it is what reality really is.

Miley Cyrus

I want to discuss Miley Cyrus. When Miley Cyrus was first starting out she was extremely conservative, granted she was a younger girl just about 13 years old, but now she has blossomed into this provocative teenager. Her new music video party in the USA has her wearing short shorts and skimpy tank top and sexy cowboy boots. Remember she is only 17 now. She is supposed to be a role model for young girls and now they want to dress and act like her. Her attitude when she is on talk shows and interviews is stuck and snobbish.
I understand that she has a lot of pressure in her life and I remember when I was her age I wanted to be and act older then I really was, because I thought it was cool. But I didn’t have an audience of 100’s and 1000’s of young girls watching and studying my every move.
Miley Cyrus was recently on Jay Leno and she looked about 23 years old. Her outfit was barely anything for a girl her age. She was wearing basically no pants, they look liked booty shorts. She and Jay Leno were discussing boys, of course, her first kiss with the boy, dating, and other things that a role model to the younger generation doesn’t need to hear! She has a great body, but she doesn’t need to act older then she is. I couldn’t help but watch the Jay leno show that night wondering why Miley was acting and dressed like that. She is such a talented signer, actress, and song writer. Does she really think that dressing or acting stuck up with get the media’s attention? Doesn’t she already realize that she has all of the media’s attention?

Kirstie Alley and her new show

I feel awful for Kirstie Alley because she lost all of that weight from Jenny Craig, I believe that she was down to 75 pounds off. When she was the spokes person for Jenny she looked great, sexy, and hot. Everyone was talking about her weight lose and how great she looked. But now that she gained the weight back she has been all over the magazines. It has to be hard enough to put the weight back on, but to have the public down your back telling you how awful you look, I cant even imagine!
Unfortunately for Jenny Craig it shows people that once you stop Jenny you gain the weight back. I am happy for Kirstie now because she is losing weight the healthy and natural weight. She was just recently on the Jay Leno Show as a guest and she looked and seemed extremely happy. It shouldn’t matter what a women weights or looks like, it should matter if they are happy and healthy with their life. Kirstie is a talented actress and that is how we should judge her based on her acting skills not on her appearance, if she is happy with it.

Women in the car business

I work at a Car Dealership and it isn’t a surprise that I am only one of the few women that work there. Women in the Car Business just don’t go together, even thought it is becoming more popular now, it just seems odd. When men come into a dealership they want to deal with an aggressive man, someone that will crunch the numbers for them, someone that they can argue with for the best price, or someone that they think is powerful, and unfortunately they don’t believe that women in the car business have these traits. I was reading an article that surprised me actually. It states in the article “Although women now buy 50 percent of all cars and are on a path to buying even more, the number of women selling cars has risen only slightly.” Its 2010 and women are still looked at like this in the car business. In my opinion purchasing a car from a women allows me to relate to the sales person and makes me feel more comfortable. As we all know car sales people have a bad reputation for being called sharks or untrustworthy, but from working the car business I have learned that that is not true at all, well there are some sales people that are like that but I think its like that in any company. This article that I found goes into detail about the car business and how it remains to this day to be like a father-son business, and even though women sales people are becoming more popular or women car dealership owners, they still don’t over power the men.

“Of General Motors’ 7,400 dealerships, 226, or 3 percent, are owned by women. At Ford Motor, women own 278, or 5 percent, of the 5,165 dealerships. It’s much the same for other automakers.” And these percentages were from 2003, so you can only imagine what they are as of now.

Look at the way women are portrayed in the car business in this picture and read the article below its about how car dealerships sell towards women.

Precious the Movie

Precious

The film Precious is about an abused teen mother who is dark-skinned, overweight and illiterate named, Claireece “Precious” Jones,. I am sure the movie will be an eye opening experience for all, I am afraid that the film will reinforce the age-old stereotype of dark women either being overweight like Precious or loud and violent like her mother. Movies like this are double-edged swords in the black community. The realities of teen pregnancy, illiteracy and abuse displayed on a larger than life screen will be eye opening for both parents and adolescents. Apparently the scenes are so riveting that some viewers felt they were watching a documentary instead of a screenplay. Many women were extremely moved by her performance and the message from the movie.
She was nominated for an academy award for best actress this year the 2010 Academy Awards. She did no win, but just to be nominated is an amazing honor. This movie had a low budget and a no named staff, but the meaning behind the movie in woman’s eyes was outstanding and touching. Today some many young women are being pregnant and don’t understand how to balance life and a child. This movie may not have been inspiration to all but if it touch the lives of someone women or teenagers in the same or similar situation then it served its purpose.
